Joan Tower, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love, passed away on April 11, 2024, in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. She was born on July 21, 1933, in Willimantic, CT, to Howard and Mary Blanchard.
Joan's life was marked by her unyielding dedication to her family, a love for the simple pleasures in life, and her enduring kindness. Joan had a fondness for reading, sewing, and baking – interests that would bring her joy throughout her life. She graduated from East Hartford High School. Joan married the love of her life, Forrest Tower, who predeceased her in 1999. Together, they built a family on the principles of love, support, and the joy of shared experiences.
Joan's legacy is lovingly carried on by her daughter, Vivian Coltey, her son, Brett Tower and his wife Deborah, as well as her grandchildren, Steven (Sarah), Ian (Cynthia), Caleb, Rachel Tower Gummoe (Ryann), Kimberly Coltey Hagenow, and Natalie Coltey (Bill). She also leaves behind her adored great-grandchildren, Sara, Josh, Evan, Alaiyaa, and Mason, who will miss her warm embrace and the stories she shared. Joan was predeceased by her sisters, Janet and Lila, she is survived by her sister, Jean Ouellette, and numerous nieces and nephews.
